When the cloud is too slow
Larus-100 is Larus-10 with an industrial-grade edge automation runtime built in: Eclipse 4diac, the open IEC 61499 environment for distributed control. You can deploy event-driven control logic — interlocks, sequencing, local PID, condition triggers — directly on the gateway, in milliseconds, without round-tripping through a cloud or an upstream PLC.
When teams pick Larus-100
- Deterministic interlocks at the edge. Stop a pump within a few cycles when a vibration threshold is breached, even if the SCADA link is down.
- Distributed automation. IEC 61499 lets you split control between gateways, PLCs and central servers without rewriting logic.
- Vendor-neutral. 4diac is an open standard supported by ABB, Siemens, Honeywell and a growing ecosystem.
- Same form factor as Larus-10. Identical mounting, identical I/O, identical commissioning workflow — just more capability in the box.
Use cases we see in the field
- Skid-level control: pump houses, package compressors, water-treatment skids where a local PLC would be overkill.
- Edge interlocks: act on a sensor signal before alerting a remote operator.
- Bridging legacy PLCs that lack modern protocols or scripting.
- Hosting third-party 4diac function blocks alongside Liman-Tech-supplied ones.
