A signal acquisition controller, not a sensor
Passer-V is the front-end for vibration diagnostics in the Liman-Tech stack. It takes industrial accelerometers — standard IEEE-grade IEPE/ICP devices with constant-current biasing — and digitises eight channels simultaneously at up to 100 kHz each, with 24-bit resolution. The raw waveform is streamed over Ethernet to a Larus gateway, where FFT, envelope analysis, RMS/Peak/Crest factor and ML inference are performed.
This split — acquisition on Passer, diagnostics on Larus — is deliberate. It lets you scale channel count without overloading any single device, and it lets diagnostic algorithms evolve in software without touching the wiring on the wall.
Why teams pick Passer-V
- 8 simultaneous channels. Enough to cover both ends of a pump, the gearbox and the motor in a single unit. Three Passer-V units = 24 channels = a typical mid-size critical asset fully instrumented.
- Up to 100 kHz sampling. Useful bandwidth ~40 kHz (Nyquist) — plenty of headroom for envelope analysis on bearings and gears, with ultrasonic regimes available.
- PTP sync between units. When you need 24+ phase-coherent channels — for ODS, modal or multi-shaft phase analysis — multiple Passer-V units sync to within microseconds.
- No vendor lock on the sensors. Use any IEPE/ICP accelerometer: GTLab, TIK, Ronds, Wilcoxon, PCB, IMI, Brüel & Kjær — whatever your Reliability team standardises on.
- Industrial form factor. DIN-rail mount, −40…+70 °C, optional IP65 enclosure. Designed for cabinet placement near the equipment.
What it does not do
We mention this because it matters for sizing the system:
- No on-board FFT, envelope, or RMS aggregation — those run on Larus.
- No on-board storage — Passer-V is a streaming device. Buffering and replay are Larus’s job.
- No wireless. Passer-V is wired Ethernet to Larus. Wireless coverage is provided by separate ISM/LoRa devices when needed.
Typical configurations
| Use case | Setup |
|---|---|
| Pump or fan | 1× Passer-V (4 of 8 channels used), 1× Larus-100 |
| Mid-size critical asset (e.g., gearbox train) | 1× Passer-V, 1× Larus-100 |
| Large machine (e.g., mill, compressor) | 3× Passer-V (24 channels), 1× Larus-100 |
| Multi-asset cabinet | 4-8× Passer-V, 1× Larus-1000 |
When in doubt: 3 Passer-V + 1 Larus-100 is the canonical “covers most assets” kit. We can size the exact configuration during a 30-minute call.
